E’ un reportage,un viaggio nella città più misteriosa d’Europa,tra le sue bellezze,caos e storia. Lo riporta uno tra i più importanti quotidiani statunitensi, il Chicago Tribune da parte di Rick Steves, uno dei più noti autori internazionali di guide di viaggio.

Come riporta Repubblica.it, il giornalista descrive la citta’ “Terribile e affascinante nello stesso tempo” , La stampa straniera torna a parlare delle bellezze e singolarità partenopee, descritte come parte di un calderone in cui s’azzuffano storia, bellezza e caos, un mix che rende unica la città agli occhi dei turisti occidentali. Steves ha scritto una sorta di vademecum per i visitatori, stemperando o, talvolta, cavalcando, i luoghi comuni e le paranoie di chi continua a vedere Napoli come un posto incontrollabile, governato dall’inciviltà e dal crimine. E, attraverso la lettura dell’articolo, si può anche comprendere ulteriormente cosa i nostri turisti cerchino in città: cosa ci sia da ottimizzare e cosa da scartare. A cominciare dal porto: molti visitatori in crociera, restano a bocca aperta per lo scenario spettacolare del Maschio Angioino e di piazza Municipio. Ma sono scoraggiati dal traffico.

“Alcuni miei amici – scrive Steves – hanno camminato soltanto per cento metri oltre la banchina, per poi tornare indietro spaventati e trascorrere in nave la loro tappa napoletana, nuotando in piscina”. Un’occasione persa: “Se solo avessero camminato altri 15 minuti, si sarebbero trovati in un mondo diverso e nuovo, squisitamente partenopeo: Napoli è la terza città d’Italia, una delle più inquinate e pericolose, ma anche una delle più esuberanti, divertenti ed interessanti in tutta Europa”.

Una parola sulla criminalità: “La cattiva reputazione c’è: il pericolo maggiore per i turisti sono i borseggiatori. Ma basta un po’ di buon senso per sentirsi tranquilli e vivere il proprio soggiorno con spirito avventuroso”. Avventuroso? Sì, perché è proprio questa la parte che più attira i turisti: una passeggiata a Napoli è un tour in un altro mondo, fatto di altri profumi, altri sguardi, altri ritmi. E qui si sfiora il cliché: “La gente del posto sembra perfettamente abile a godersi la vita con i loro modi di fare”. Trascorre il tempo nel labirinto di stradine strette e tortuose, tra antichi e cadenti edifici. In questo “canyon urbano” si lavora, si parla, si grida, ci si ama.

Ancora, “la vostra prima tappa deve assolutamente essere il vivace (e puzzolente) mercato del pesce di Porta Nolana, che da secoli accoglie bancarelle e carrelli di pescivendoli e venditori ambulanti”. Tappa obbligata “per uno scorcio perfetto di vita napoletana”, sono anche i Quartieri spagnoli: “Entrate in un negozio di alimentari e chiedete il panino più grande con prosciutto e mozzarella. Non lo pagherete te più di cinque dollari”.

Il tour dovrà naturalmente toccare anche il centro storico, Spaccanapoli e il Museo Cappella Sansevero, elogiato soprattutto per il suo Cristo Velato. Ma, “ricordate che a Napoli i ciclomotori sono incontrollabili e i semafori rossi sono considerati decorazioni”, non manca di avvisare Steves. Dai decumani, dopo una pausa in pizzeria su via Tribunali (“Sembra che i napoletani siano sempre entusiasti di discutere all’infinito sulle sottili differenze tra un impasto e l’altro”), l’ultimo stop, il più importante, è rivolto alla “maggior attrazione di Napoli”: il Museo archeologico nazionale.

Sono sempre la cultura e la storia della città a trionfare su ogni suo altro aspetto. Soprattutto quelle legate a Pompei ed Ercolano. “Un giro in queste sale, offre il più completo sguardo sull’arte e l’archeologia italiana, in particolar modo sulle due città sepolte

dall’eruzione del 79. Imperdibile davvero”. Sempre sperando che le sale siano aperte, verrebbe da aggiungere. Insomma, anche in questo caso, i giornali stranieri promuovono Napoli sotto ogni aspetto. Persino i difetti la rendono più bella: nelle strade di questa città, si legge, si riflette l’Italia. “Napoli è come la pizza: una deliziosa esperienza, calda e accogliente. Se non ti piace Napoli, sei stanco della vita”.
