Con il suo stile garbato e intimo Iannacone attraversa la città di Napoli svelandone senza retorica né abusati clichè le contraddizioni, gli umori ed i tanti chiaroscuri, mettendo costantemente al centro del racconto le persone, le loro storie di vita, la loro visione del domani. Ad accompagnare Domenico Iannacone in questo viaggio inedito, due personaggi “guida” diversi tra loro ma al tempo stesso emblematici, come due facce della stessa medaglia, dello “spirito” della città: Gaetano Di Vaio, una vita da giovane delinquente alle spalle, è oggi un produttore cinematografico, attore e scrittore, che incarna la voglia di non arrendersi e la capacità di riscatto sociale ed emancipazione di chi non si rassegna ad un destino “segnato”; cresciuto tra i sobborghi napoletani e le “piazze di spaccio” di Scampia, Gaetano è stato capace di prendere in mano il proprio destino e capovolgerlo positivamente fino alla ribalta del cinema di qualità. La seconda “guida” del viaggio sarà poi Oreste Pipolo, un “Virgilio” sanguigno e vitale, fotografo di grande talento, temperamento vulcanico e creativo profondamente innamorato della sua città, diventato negli anni il più importante fotografo di matrimoni di Napoli; quei matrimoni che solo a Napoli come in nessun altro luogo sanno essere favola e sogno di una vita diversa, rito propiziatorio e messa in scena teatrale, e che negli scatti di Oreste diventano suggestione artistica e documento sociale. Intorno a Gaetano e Oreste si intrecciano le storie di tanti altri personaggi. Un film sulla città, un grande affresco corale.
