Senso civico a Napoli: I bambini aiutano a ripulire la vetrata della metropolitana

Nella foto si vede un bambino, maglietta gialla e pantaloncini di jeans. Non ha più di dieci anni, ma ha già la faccia da scugnizzo. Quella faccia che molti sono abituati a identificare con il male latente che infetta la città. Questo bambino è davvero uno scugnizzo. Un piccolo scugnizzo dei Quartieri Spagnoli. Un figlio del popolo, nato e cresciuto (non lo sappiamo, ma possiamo immaginarlo) in strada e per la strada. Uno di quelli che si diverte a infastidire i passanti e a sfottere i turisti. Uno di quelli che, alla sera, si attarda a giocare per le strade vuote, trasformate in un improvvisato campo di calcio.

Nella foto, questo bambino ha in mano una pezza bianca. La sta passando sul vetro dell’uscita della stazione della metropolitana di Toledo. Sta pulendo quel vetro, perché un suo coetaneo l’ha imbrattato con un pennarello. Nessuno l’ha obbligato a farlo. La faccenda è andata così: i volontari del progetto Bike Sharing, armati di pezze e secchi, sono andati a via Toledo per pulire le ciclostazioni installate a ridosso della metro, anche quelle imbrattate di scritte. ” Arriviamo alla ciclostazione Toledo per pulirla da alcuni scarabocchi,- commentano cosi’ i volontari del progetto Bike Sharing – in un attimo veniamo accerchiati dai bambini che chiedono di poter pulire con noi.Presi dall’entusiasmo in meno di 5 minuti puliscono tutte le ciclostazioni e le vetrate della metro; ce ne andiamo piuttosto soddisfatti.”

Quel bambino che nella foto vedete con la pezza in mano, era lì, a bighellonare come ogni giorno. Forse c’era anche quell’altro bambino, quello che ha usato il vetro e la plastica delle ciclostazioni come lavagna improvvisata per scrivere qualche frase infantile. I bambini hanno visto i volontari mettersi a pulire. Loro gli hanno chiesto se avevano voglia di dare una mano. I bambini hanno risposto di sì. Hanno preso le pezze, e si sono messi al lavoro. Prima hanno dato una bella strofinata alle scritte sulle ciclostazioni e poi, giacché c’erano, hanno ripulito anche quelle sul vetro della stazione della metro. Perché avere qualcosa da fare è sempre meglio che non fare niente. E questo bambino e i suoi compagni non hanno trovato affatto sconveniente mettersi a pulire. Il problema è offrire alle persone un’alternativa.

Questa foto, e la storia che questa foto racconta, parla di possibilità. Di educazione. Di speranza. Parla di un amore possibile. L’amore per la propria città e per il bene comune che troppo spesso a questa città manca. È questo il vero cancro che infetta Napoli: la convinzione dei suoi abitanti che la città non gli appartiene, e che non gli offrirà mai niente. Che non vale la pena curarla, rispettarla, mantenerla pulita e in ordine. Perché tanto a Napoli fa tutto schifo, e aggiungere altro schifo allo schifo non è peccato; Napoli è solo una gabbia, una madre opprimente e soffocante da cui fuggire o in cui trovare la morte.

Non è vero che i napoletani sono tutti incivili. Quello che manca ai napoletani non è il senso civico, anzi. Quello che manca ai napoletani è una sana fiducia nella propria città-madre, quella fede tanto necessaria per credere in una riparazione possibile. Tutti i bambini si divertono a imbrattare gli oggetti. Non bisogna punirli per questo, ma insegnare loro a (e che è possibile) pulire ciò che hanno sporcato. Questa è civiltà. I napoletani sono come bambini. Devono solo imparare ad avere fiducia nella possibilità di riparare il danno e, nel tempo, imparare a non ripeterlo. Imparando il valore delle cose, belle e comuni. Come la metro di Toledo, o le stazioni del Bike Sharing. Come le aree verdi e i monumenti.

Un ciclo virtuoso che passa attraverso la fiducia nelle istituzioni: perché sono loro che devono trasmettere ai cittadini il valore e il rispetto per le infrastrutture e il patrimonio condiviso (quelle cose belle che da tempo a Napoli non si vedevano o erano abbandonate a se stesse), avendone cura e offrendolo alla città; ma soprattutto, un ciclo virtuoso che passa attraverso la fiducia in se stessi. Nella propria identità di popolo che non è incivile perché vuole esserlo, ma perché troppo spesso non ha alternative.

Bisogna offrire queste alternative ai napoletani. Dare loro la possibilità di dimostrare che sono meglio di come li dipingono. Napoli potrebbe davvero risorgere, se solo la si smettesse di utilizzarla come capro espiatorio e simbolo di un’intera nazione che va a rotoli. Sono secoli che Napoli attende questa resurrezione. Forse quel momento tanto atteso è arrivato. Bisogna dare fiducia a questa città. Bisogna ridare la fiducia ai napoletani. Fiducia nelle istituzioni (quelle buone, e sane, che davvero lavorano per il bene della città) e fiducia in loro stessi. Fiducia nella loro possibilità di farcela. Di migliorarsi giorno dopo giorno. Di affrancarsi da quella condizione di subalternità in cui per troppo tempo sono stati relegati, incivili, fannulloni, brutti sporchi e cattivi. Cittadini di serie B.

Oggi forse questa rinascita è possibile, e quella possibilità sta nelle mani di quel bambino che regge una pezza, e con quella pezza pulisce ciò che è stato sporcato. Restituisce alla città la sua originaria bellezza. Oggi, dopo aver guardato questa foto, possiamo e dobbiamo gridarlo a voce alta, e con orgoglio. Napoli non sarà perfetta. Però non è seconda a nessuno.
